/5

Be careful making this bowl of Pork Wonton Soup. You might become highly addicted. The flavor relationship between the simple yet affective broth pairs BEAUTIFFLY with the wontons. This quick and easy meal is sure to be a family pleaser.

You’ve got me wonton some more!

This meal is perfect If you want to make it ahead of time for a later use. The wontons may be pre made and kept in the freezer for up to 4-6 months if it is stored properly. I usually like to make the broth from scratch. The stock can also be stored in the freezer and thawed when you are ready to use.

If you are on a time crunch you may substitute the broth for store bought chicken or vegetable broth. You will need to just add fresh ginger, onions and soy sauce to the stock and boil for 30 minutes.

Instructions

1.     Place your ground pork, shaoxing wine, water, and   into a bowl . Mix in one direction to form a paste.

2.     Once it forms a paste like consistency, add chives, shallots, and grated ginger. Mix well and then pick up the pork mixture and throw it a couple times to create a springy texture.

3.     Fry a little piece and taste the seasonings to adjust to your liking.

4.     To wrap your wonton, place a teaspoon of filling in the center of your wrapper. Wet two sides of your wrapper with water, then fold over into a triangle to seal. Make sure there isn’t any air in the middle. Then wet the two long corners of your wonton and connect them.

5.     In a pot boil water and add 1 tsp of salt. Cook the dumplings in boiling water for 3-4 minutes or until the dumplings float to the top. Using a strainer, take it out and place in a bowl.

6.     Serve with chili oil and green onions or with my homemade soup broth.
